Aguas Negras is home to nearly 1,000 families. The name means “Black Water,” which comes from the raw sewage flowing through streets, homes and play areas as a result of extreme rain and regular flooding. Through our church partner, Light on the Road Church, we are helping to raise homes above flood level, provide safe drinking water, improve education and develop teachers and pastors as leaders in their community. Through Light on the Road Church, a glimmer of hope has been restored in this community and among its people.
Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, with 65% of the population living in poverty. Ridge Point is concentrating on serving a small rural area that lacks safe water, quality education and steady employment. Through our Honduran church partners and community leaders, we are improving the quality of daily life in Honduras and building the foundation for spiritual renewal.
Ridge Point’s connection to Belize began with Son and Sea Camp, a summer camp experience for children. Although camp has been life changing for some children, the ongoing influence of a vibrant local church is missing. Ridge Point is working to establish strategic partnerships with English and Spanish speaking churches to continue reaching the island youth and their families for Christ.
Ridge Point partners with Jubilee Centre to address issues surrounding poverty and spiritual emptiness in Zambia. Jubilee Centre is committed to improving access to education, quality health care and spiritual discipleship. Working through the local church network in Zambia, Ridge Pointers provide financial sponsorship for orphans and support for home based care volunteers who have been equipped to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Through these efforts, the Church is bringing light into the darkness of desperate communities in Africa.
